Overview: Kubler incremental encoders operate on an electro-optical scanning principle. A disk with a radial grating of lines and gaps rotates between a light source (mostly an LED) and a receiver which produces
a sine wave signal proportional to the light received.
With absolute encoders, the light sent by a LED is modulated by a code pattern on a rotating disk. The modulated light signal is scanned by a special Kbler Opto-Asic.
A unique bit pattern is assigned to each position on the disk, the bit pattern is usually available as a Gray Code. |
